OUR STORY

A love based on vintage furniture, wood turning and pie.

That sounds weird, we know.

Five years ago, on a beautiful fall morning, Chad and his friend Lori were enjoying a Saturday morning exploring a pop-up vintage market in downtown Tucson.  At the same time Michael, and friends Adam and Andy, were finishing up breakfast and headed over to the same market. The initial meeting was brief, but Michael mentioned wanting to refurnish his home office. Chad was certainly up for the challenge of finding a mid-century drafting desk.

Along with Jamey, a mutual friend, Michael and Chad embarked on perilous adventures through over stacked vintage store booths, antique malls and estate sales – and a friendship began to grow.  One afternoon when Jamey was unable to join, the pair spent three hours on an unsuccessful hunt through the 22nd Street Antique Mall talking about everything under the sun, including Chad’s love of woodturning. Fascinated about the process, Michael asked if Chad might give him a demonstration and teach him how.

Chad decided it would be ideal to start with something simple – a small toy top.  The lesson went in to the wee hours of the morning, and in the midst of wood chips, sawdust and polishing compound, Chad and Michael talked about life, family and dreams.  While the top didn’t end up all that exciting – the prospect of a potential relationship most certainly was.

The following weekend while Michael was running in a race in California, Chad and Lori were busy helping organize the Annual Food Conspiracy Co-op Pie Party. As enjoying a delicious slice of pie is always the right call, especially after a long weekend of physical exertion, Chad invited Michael to come to the event when he got back to Tucson, and savor some of these homemade desserts. After the event had ended, and all the crumbs were swept up, Michael and Chad enjoyed a couple of slices of pie paired with Chad’s signature Negroni. It as that evening they realized it was time to “give ‘em pumpkin to talk about” and that they were going to live “apple-y every after”
